Ventura
California, officially known as San Buenaventura, is located 63
miles north of Los Angeles on Highway 101. One of the oldest cities
in California, Ventura was established in 1782 with the founding
of the Mission San Buenaventura. With miles of well kept uncrowded
beaches and a sunny Mediterranean climate, Ventura offers an attractive
quality of life which is unsurpassed in the region. The historic
Downtown invites shoppers to stroll and browse in a unique environment
with its fine Ventura hotels, restaurants and over 80 historic
landmarks.
The home to several major international corporations, Ventura
also serves as the governmental center for Ventura County. While
many high technology companies have located in the community,
Ventura continues to cultivate its historic roots as an agricultural
center with international connections.
Top area attractions include Anacapa Island (plenty of sea lions,
seals and home to the largest breeding colony of the endangered
California brown pelican), the Ventura Harbor Village (located
right across the beach), the Variety Theatre (comedy, music, drama
and magic), Seaside Park (64 acres of beachfront that's also site
of the Ventura County Fair) and Skate Street Ventura (a
29,000 square foot indoor skatepark for skateboarding, rollerblading,
and BMX). |
